Dangers of internet chatting

A Cebuana from Lapu-Lapu got married to an Australian whom she met through internet chatting. The Australian asked her to go with him to Australia but she refused. Then she got kidnapped and the Australian contacted the police. The police found out that the girl was in cahoots with her taxi driver boyfriend and that they just staged the kidnapping so that they could milk money from the foreigner husband. Apprehended by the police, the boyfriend was jailed but the Australian did not want to file a complaint against his wife. Then another man surfaced claiming that he was the girl's true husband, that they were married prior to her marriage to the Australian and he had NSO documents to back up his claim. Now the girl was facing a bigamy case, while her "kidnapper" boyfriend was facing drugs and illegal possession of fire arms charges.

Now, the question is: can we blame this to internet chatting? Chatting leading to bigamy leading to even greater crimes. How common is this?

we cant blame this to internet chatting..... chatting is very important..... it is just abuse.... come to think of it.... If some organization needs to have an emergency conference and their president is in America or Australia.. How can they have the conference?

Chatting is useful but sometimes it is used for abuse like pornography and many other crimes

Everything depends on how you handle the situation. There are just some who abuse or don't take precautions in what and who they are chatting with. The main point is that you have to be careful!!

chatting is nice, fun, and a a good way of killing boredome..
important man na ang chatting expecially to those who have family's in other nation. mao ra jod na ang other way besides texting and faxing nga maka communicate sa emong loved ones.. its also good to chat and make friends with strangers, pero not to the point na u will trust them a 100% and pasagad lng kas emong gibati.. this would worsen the idea man gud..
